Say Hi to Izzie
Dalmatian, 5 years old
My favourite thing about Izzie is...
Izzie is super loving and crazy! People she knows need face kisses and proper hugs! People she doesn’t know she takes time to trust you! She loves her baby brother and will stand up for him if required. She is so busy and has to be involved with everything! Trying to help but not being helpful 😂
The biggest challenge with Izzie is...
Izzie is food obsessed so any picnics she is onlead straight away! She has stolen many food items including a falafel wrap! Izzie can be nervous but displays calming signal well so I can keep her safe and calm! She is extremely stubborn, if she doesn’t want to do something she won’t! I’ve often had to leave a field without her or wait around for her to decide she is ready to come back 😂🙈
The most surprising thing about owning a Dalmatian is...
They have so much energy but they also love a cuddle! She can be really lazy! Izzie is unbelievably stubborn, I’m challenged everyday! She can be bossy!
What I wish I’d known about Dalmatians is...
Their headstrong and stubbornness! I knew training any puppy would be hard but Dalmatians you have to be very consistent and firm as they will walk all over you! However all the training was worthwhile as she is mostly very well behaved now! But they will still find somewhen to make you look stupid 😂
Did you know?
These dogs have a natural affinity with horses (from their history as carriage dogs) and that they were well known for running alongside, behind, or even underneath horse drawn fire engines. Not only did they protect the engine from being stolen while the firemen were fighting the fire, they also seemed to give the horses comfort.
