Say Hi to Molly

My favourite thing about Molly is...
She is such a gentle, calm, loving pup and an absolute joy to have around. 'Puppy' and 'calm' don't always go hand in hand but Molly has been amazing from the day we brought her home! She absolutely loves being around people and will fall asleep wherever we are...by the desk, the kitchen table, the sofa...if we're there, Molly will settle in for a nap!
The biggest challenge with Molly is...
Stopping her from running over to every dog she sees! In her eyes, every single one is a potential new friend and she will make a beeline for them and completely ignores me, the whistle, the treats...but we are working on it and she's getting better. I keep reminding myself she's only a puppy and it will take time for the all the training to sink in!
The most surprising thing about owning a Golden Retriever is...
How much they love water! I knew from researching the breed that they like to swim but I never expected she would lie down in every puddle she finds. The muddier the better! I often leave the house with a Golden and come home with a swamp creature! But it makes her so happy and it's nothing a quick rinse under the hose and a good old drying coat can't fix.
What I wish I’d known about Golden Retrievers is...
How much hair they shed! I was prepared for some moulting, but not this much...I could knit a whole new dog with the amount of hair she sheds every week. Having hard flooring downstairs definitely helps, we got a really good hoover and brush her regularly with an undercoat rake to catch a lot of the loose hair. But I wouldn't change her, she's the most wonderful dog and we love her to bits.
