LEARN MORE ABOUT GO-CAT'S JOURNEY TOWARDS REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE
At Go-Cat, our goal has always been to provide quality pet food that supports a happy and healthy life for your pets. But we also have a duty to act with the planet in mind.
Regenerative agriculture is a holistic approach that aims to conserve and restore farmland and its ecosystems. Implementing regenerative agriculture practices is an important step in boosting biodiversity and supporting natural resources around farms. One example of this is the use of cover crops. Cover crops help to enrich the soil, protect against soil erosion, and improve quality and fertility.
Introducing Regenerative Agriculture Practices
One way we’re supporting our environment is through the transition to regenerative agriculture practices. Regenerative agriculture is a holistic farming approach that aims to conserve and restore farmland soil and its ecosystem. Such practices can have multiple benefits that include:
- Enrichment of the soil through organic matter build up and the capture of carbon from the atmosphere.
- Improved soil health and fertility allowing potential reduction of chemical fertilisers and GHG (incl. CO2) emissions.
- Helping to improve farmland resilience to climate change.
- To support the ability of the soil to better retain water.
- Allowing farmers to keep growing ingredients in the future and more resilient soil.
A couple of examples of these regenerative agricultural practices are the planting of trees and hedges as part of agroforestry practices, and cover crops to provide soil cover, protect against soil erosion, and improve quality and fertility. This farming system allows farmers to continue growing ingredients while protecting and restoring soil health and fertility where they come from.
That’s why we began this exciting journey to support farmers on regenerative agriculture practices, restore soil health, and support the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions over the long term.
The Go-Cat Journey
At Go-Cat, our goal has always been to provide quality pet food that supports a happy and healthy life for your pets. But we also have a duty to act with the planet in mind.
For this reason, we began this exciting journey in 2020 to support farmers on regenerative agriculture practices aiming to restore soil health where ingredients grow and help reduce greenhouse gas emission.
We started helping farmers implementing these practices on wheat crops.
So, just as you made a lifelong promise to love and care for your pet, we promise to continue making quality food for generations of pets and their owners for years to come!

Our partners on our Journey
And we’re not doing it alone. In the UK, GoCat is working with LENs (Landscape Enterprise Networks) on a programme for cereal farmers as they transition to other methods of growing key ingredients.
The initiative aims to redesign modern farming and develop regenerative agriculture practices that work with nature to be both scalable.
Together, we are investing in improving the quality and health of landscapes, developing our knowledge, and supporting farmers as they transition to new methods of growing key ingredients.
Since 2021, we’ve supported farmers working across 3000 hectares in the process of implementing regenerative practices and 8000 metres of hedgerows have been planted in the UK.
We believe people and pets are 'Better Together'. Our programme promises la support you. through every stage of your journey.
