Not all cats need lots of space. Some of the most lovable cats come in smaller packages. These pint-sized felines are bursting with personality and are perfect for people who live in apartments or smaller homes or just want a super tiny companion.

Devon Rex

Often confused with their close relatives the Cornish Rex, the Devon Rex possesses the same genetic makeup. On average they only weigh between 5 - 10 pounds and have a soft coat, small stature, big ears and large round eyes which gives them an almost pixie-like appearance.

Originating in Devon, England, in the 1950s as a result of a natural mutation, this cat breed thrives on human companionship, often following their owners around like a shadow. If they feel you are ignoring them, they will chirp and chirp away until you finally pay attention. They are known for their jumping skills and love of heights, so don't be surprised to find them perched on the highest point in your home.

Siamese Cat

Renowned for their captivating blue almond-shaped eyes and graceful physique, the Siamese cat is one of the most recognisable small cat breeds. Once cherished by Thai royalty, their history is as rich as their personalities. Despite having a long body, Siamese cats are incredibly lightweight.

Females can weigh as little as 5 pounds and are around 30cm in height, giving them a sleek and athletic appearance. Known for being very vocal and deeply affectionate, Siamese cats often form strong bonds with one person, sometimes to the point of possessiveness. This can lead to them suffering from separation anxiety if their owner is gone for too long. With their sleek, muscular bodies, Siamese cats are both agile and active, making them a fantastic addition to any home.

Singapura

Easily identified by their large eyes and ears perched on a petite frame, the Singapura is one of the smallest and rarest cat breeds. These affectionate and curious felines thrive on human interaction; particularly when playing with children.

Expect them to always be at your side, whether they’re playing with a toy or snuggling up next to you. Despite their small size, they have a muscular build and an unexpected agility. Singapuras are known to be quite the climbers and will often seek the highest vantage point to observe their surroundings.

Burmese Cat

Originating in Burma and later developing in the United States and Britain, the Burmese cat is a breed known for their compact bodies, round faces, and expressive golden eyes. Burmese cat owners love their dog-like loyalty and will often be greeted by their cat as soon as they enter the door.

They are people-oriented cats that enjoy a good cuddle and are often described as "bricks wrapped in silk" due to their surprisingly weighty and muscular build.

Cornish Rex

Originating from Cornwall, England, the Cornish Rex is often compared to the Devon Rex, which has a soft, wavy coat and slender build. However, this breed is known for their egg-shaped heads, large ears, and athletic physique. Cornish Rex cats are adventurous and playful, with a high level of intelligence that makes them easily trainable. Their coat is distinctive and hypoallergenic, making them a possible choice for some allergy sufferers.

Whether you're drawn to playful personalities or unique looks, there's a small cat breed for everyone. From the curly-coated Devon Rex to the tiny Singapura, each breed has its own special charm. So, if you're looking for a feline friend who's big on love but small in stature, consider welcoming one of these miniature marvels into your life and home.
