Basset Hound & German Shepherd Dog, 7 years old
My favourite thing about Diesel is...
He loves motorcycle riding with me; he asks to go for a bike ride! I also do motorcycle campaigns and he loves to meet and greet! Kids love him, the public love what I have done with the bike and he loves the outdoors. He is an intelligent dog and gets bored easily so I got him a baby brother; a cat!
The biggest challenge with Diesel is...
I rescued Diesel from another family; the young lady who had him also had a daughter and this was when he was a puppy dog - they would lock him up in the bathroom and didn't go out for the day, he would cry and scratch at the door so I offered a better home.
The most surprising thing about owning a Basset Hound & German Shepherd Dog is...
He is very aware of his surroundings, very good at reading you even if you get upset, and he will come up to you and give you comfort just like a support dog.
What I wish I’d known about Basset Hounds & German Shepherd Dogs is...
Because of the cross-breed and the short stature of his legs his front legs go a little stiff whenever he runs, so I have to be careful when I'm playing fetch. He's very inquisitive!
