Say Hello to Maude
Bearded Collie, 5 Months old
My favourite thing about Maude is...
She is so biddable and eager to please, we bred her ourselves and from the moment she opened her eyes she chose us! At the moment she needs to grow into her ears!
The biggest challenge with Maude is...
Channeling her exuberance and energy and keeping all four feet on the ground, especially at training classes!
The most surprising thing about owning a Bearded Collie is...
They are super intelligent, with the correct handling they form a deep and lasting bond with their owners and will learn quickly. Always eager to please but in the wrong hands as with most dogs things can be very different.
What I wish I’d known about Bearded Collies is...
They need time! Owners will need to have lots of time for training and bonding and put in the hours at the puppy stage, and all the way through the dog’s life, they are a family dog and like companionship. They do not like to be left alone too often. Time for grooming is paramount.
Did you know
Commonly believed to be descended from the Old English Sheepdog, in fact the Beardies origins are far older than the Old English Sheepdogs and it is likely both owe much to the early Polish Lowland Sheepdogs.
