Meet Walter (and Tilly!)

Bichon Frise, 15 years old

My favourite thing about Walter (and Tilly!) is...

What we love most about Walter is his smile. He really looks like he is giving you a big grin when he is enjoying himself! He is also so gentle and friendly to everyone he meets, dogs, children and adults alike. What we love most about Tilly is her cute puppy like features, soft fur, and cuddly nature! If she sees a lap then she will jump straight into it! She also has a strong love of Jessica’s petticoats which she will lie on at the slightest chance.

The biggest challenge with Walter (and Tilly!) is...

The biggest challenge with Walter is his unending quest for food, he is a greedy boy! He would sniff out a picnic from the other side of the park! In the past year he has suffered with arthritis and is now also partially blind and deaf which means walks at the park are limited but picnics are at least much safer! Tilly barks a lot when anyone comes to our front door. She used to run after and bark at other much larger dogs at the park too but has thankfully settled slightly now she is older.

The most surprising thing about owning a Bichon Frise is...

The Bichon Frise is quite particular about their feet, they don’t like getting messy or walking in mud and they have a funny little hop with their back legs when walking sometimes. Beckons have a distinct look. They have a lovely curly coat that needs grooming regularly but despite being white don’t actually attract much dirt! They have stocky little legs and body making them quite ideal for slower paced families or people.

What I wish I’d known about Bichon Frises is...

They are very attached to their owners which can mean they are a little needy. They do not like to be left alone and can be a little neurotic. They are food driven and are not super playful but are cheeky and love a good cuddle.
