Meet Daisy
Border Collie, 2 years old
My favourite thing about Daisy is...
Daisy is fascinated by rain drops & will spend hours studying them dripping on the patio when it rains, she’d rather do that than eat her dinner!! She also studies the TV intensely & so wants to interact with any dogs she spots, she's a sociable girly. I have several grandchildren & socialised Daisy a great deal with children when she was a puppy, she gives great cuddles & paws you for more.
The biggest challenge with Daisy is...
Barking at the TV. Collies are very reactive & teaching her not to lunge on the lead at passing cars as a puppy was challenging but we got there with a lot of patience. TV issue is ongoing but TV is now wall mounted out of her reach. She damaged the previous TV which was at a lower level & could have severely injured herself in the process. I don’t leave the TV on when I leave the room for safety.
The most surprising thing about owning a Border Collie is...
Daisy always needs to know where everyone is in the house is & will position herself in a place so she can keep an eye on everyone. People assume that Daisy needs lots of long walks but actually it’s interaction that she needs. Yes we do go for a couple of walks a day work permitting but we also play interactive games & she will often bring me a toy if she is not too busy watching raindrops.
What I wish I’d known about Border Collies is...
Just how much they like to dig & love mud!! She is much better now but I have foregone my small lawn as it really wasn’t surviving & replaced it with a beached area.
Did you know?
Border Collies are known for their intense stare, allowing them to control a flock with a simple glance.
