Get to know Monty
Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired), 7 Months old
My favourite thing about Monty is...
he's such a feisty little character. He loves to protect his Mummy when out after dark but totally loves meeting people, children and especially other dogs at the park. He loves a nap, especially on a comfy lap!
The biggest challenge with Monty is...
being left, he hates being left which is certainly very challenging for us all.
The most surprising thing about owning a Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired) is...
Little dog syndrome. He clearly didn’t get the memo and will jump on and off the sofa etc. I thought I knew a lot about the breed (as I have wanted one for about 15 years) however I didn’t realise such a small dog can have such a huge bark!
What I wish I’d known about Dachshunds (Miniature Smooth-Haired) is...
That they are sooo needy. You can’t even go to the toilet in peace!
Did you know?
A translation error is why this breed appears in the hound group and not the terrier group! Its German name means Badger Dog, but back in 1874 when the breed was entered in the English stud book, authors wrongly translated the German ‘hund’ as ‘hound’ rather than as ‘dog’.
