Come and meet Noodle
Dachshund (Miniature Wire-Haired), 6 Months old
My favourite thing about Noodle is...
That he is the most confident dog that I have ever known and he is still only six months old! He is very sociable and loves mixing with dogs of any size, he is unafraid of any dog and is very happy with other humans especially children who he sees as something to play with.
The biggest challenge with Noodle is...
Keeping him from getting bored. I take him to day care once a week which he loves! And I get to walk him with my friend’s greater Swiss mountain dog (the size difference always gets attention). He has tons of toys to keep him occupied but I feel he would benefit from a brother or sister to keep him company and play with.
The most surprising thing about owning a Dachshund (Miniature Wire-Haired) is...
How darn stubborn he is! His recall is almost non-existent when he sees another dog so off lead has to be carefully planned. A trip to the beach was strictly on lead. He would have just run over to the nearest dogs to play with! He is learning to wait at kerb side. But getting him to sit is proving tough.
What I wish I’d known about Dachshunds (Miniature Wire-Haired) is...
How tricky it can be to find harnesses and clothing to fit. Not every small or extra small outfit is designed for long thin dogs, so do your research. I have found a couple of really good fleeces that are designed for mini dachsies.
