Greetings from Red
Dogue de Bordeaux, 9 years old
He came from The Underheugh Ark Rescue .
My favourite thing about Red is...
Red is so smart and can pick up anything you had asked him to do, he is very funny; you can see him study something and work out how to master anything, like wrapping his paws and nails around any door handle to open doors. He also loves to be in the garden, and loves chasing bees.
The biggest challenge with Red is...
This has to be the car, he gets himself so worked up that he will be sick even on a short trip. We believe this was because when he was a pup he was in a car with drug dealers and they were getting chased by the police and they threw Red out of the car at high speed to stop the police chasing them. This led to him having a twisted spine and rib cage and lumps and bumps, but we love him.
The most surprising thing about owning a Dogue de Bordeaux is...
They are very smart and work things out without any prompts, they also take up a lot of room on the bed or sofa. He likes to be under the bed covers but when he gets hot he just lies on his back and pushes the covers with 4 legs into the air until he is cool, most dogs would just come out. Red has a massive attachment to females, he follows my wife everywhere from morning to night. Red is the boss.
What I wish I’d known about Dogue de Bordeauxs is...
That this breed have a very short life; most dogs of this breed can pass away from about 7 years onwards but they are the most funny and loving dogs I have ever had in my life which makes it harder when they pass as they are so much like a human family member.
Did you know?
The Dogue de Bordeaux is a devoted companion that bonds closely with their family and will protect them and their territory if they feel it is threatened.
