Say Hello to Chase
German Shepherd Dog, 2 years old
My favourite thing about Chase is...
We have 3 chihuahuas he lives with and he barks just like them (as in the sound and tone), he likes his sleep and indeed a fluffy blanket, we all love him so much, when he looks at you with his big brown eyes your heart will melt, he is loyal, a fabulous companion, loves to run on the beach, take car rides meeting new doggie friends and humans, and his favourite past time is chilling with me.
The biggest challenge with Chase is...
Picking up all his fur.
The most surprising thing about owning a German Shepherd Dog is...
Owning a German shepherd is the easy part, the most surprising thing is they won’t stop giving, their aim is to please you, their intelligence is second to none, and how they adapt to so many roles in life; police dogs, sniffer dogs, originally used for herding sheep, their want to please seems to be built in.
What I wish I’d known about German Shepherd Dogs is...
I think in one sentence I’m going to get my heart broken one day, as I have 3 times before.
Did you know?
German Shepherd Dogs have had many jobs, one of the least well known however was as guide dogs for the blind, and the GSD was preferred as their height made them very suitable for blinded ex-military men, who would have found the Labradors and Golden Retrievers (and their mixes) too short! They are still used today for taller people but the amount of hair they shed makes them less popular.
