Introducing China blue
Glen of Imaal Terrier, 3 years old
My favourite thing about China blue is...
she is very loving, but can be wilful too! She is very energetic, but does not like going out in the rain too much. She loves showing and has two CC's. China is a breed which does not shed hair but has to be stripped out twice a year.
The biggest challenge with China blue is...
There is no real challenge, but being a terrier she can sometimes turn a deaf ear when called, or looks up as if to say 'yes just a minute whilst I finish sniffing'.
The most surprising thing about owning a Glen of Imaal Terrier is...
they are very loveable, love being with humans and are not fussed with going off with other dogs, as they'd rather be with you. They are very loyal characters, and not a typical terrier as they are a quiet breed.
What I wish I’d known about Glen of Imaal Terriers is...
they are very placid and basically ignore other dogs, but do not like other dogs 'in their face'. If another dog picks on them, they never start trouble... but will finish it!
Did you know?
As well as being used to eradicate all kinds of vermin, including fox, badger, otter and rat, they can herd cattle and sheep, and were used as a turnspit dog, to run in a wheel connected to the spit, turning the meat over the fire.
