Meet Jimmy
Golden Retriever, 13 Weeks old
My favourite thing about Jimmy is...
No matter how deep of a sleep he is in, as soon as he hears the words ”let's go”, he's up and ready for a walk. He likes being chased around. As soon as he realises we are trying to chase him he gets really hyperactive and runs around the house. He is very excited to watch kids playing cricket. He wants his bananas smashed and fed by hand. Anything put in the bowl remains untouched.
The biggest challenge with Jimmy is...
Goldens shed hair. They shed hair all over the place. Dog hair is all over the place no matter what you do. You MUST brush them. Hell as puppies, wonderful family companions after that, lot of hair to deal with...
The most surprising thing about owning a Golden Retriever is...
The golden retriever is even-tempered, friendly, intelligent, affectionate are playful, yet gentle with children, and they tend to get along well with other pets and strangers. Goldens are relatively quiet compared to other dogs and usually bark to show their loyalty to their owners. They rarely bite, which another fantastic reason they're commonly used as support and service animals .
What I wish I’d known about Golden Retrievers is...
They need constant brushing, routine walks, sometimes a trim as well. Golden retriever is a very smart breed - make sure you train your pet well! Golden retrievers are not a protector. A good watchdog — barking when something is different, but not an attacker. It’s gentle to a fault, predictable, follows you around or just lays down if nothing is happening.
