Come and say Hi to MacKenzie or Mac
Golden Retriever, 6 years old
My favourite thing about MacKenzie or Mac is...
his sweet and sociable nature. He doesn't live with children but they are often in the house and he loves them to pet and cuddle him. He loves a good-natured rough and tumble with the other retrievers that he lives with and doggy friends that come to visit.
The biggest challenge with MacKenzie or Mac is...
Mac was a real wild child! this is because he has working strain in his line. It's taken a while but all the wildness has now gone and he listens and enjoys all his activities, including obedience and gundog training. Even though he is getting older, I love the fact that he still gets into mischief.
The most surprising thing about owning a Golden Retriever is...
just how good-natured and accommodating they are. You can only be surprised at just how good they are in every respect.
What I wish I’d known about Golden Retrievers is...
GRs really are the best family dog. They are kind, undemanding and affectionate. Unfortunately their love of food does sometimes overcome them and they are opportunist thieves! Also, they do shed their hair so grooming is essential, but mine love that and I find it very therapeutic.
