Say Hello to Dudley
Hungarian Vizsla, 3 years old
He came from Paws4thought .
My favourite thing about Dudley is...
His happy go lucky, unstoppable nature despite losing a front leg at ten weeks old; we fostered and subsequently adopted him the night of his surgery. His clownish ways and the faces he pulls, his gentle, loving ways and the close bond he has with our son who has Downs syndrome.
The biggest challenge with Dudley is...
Despite being a tripaw, Dudley, like most Vizslas, is a high energy, super athletic dog who hikes, climbs and loves nothing better than a beach run. Keeping him fit and super strong requires daily physio and core exercises as well as a strict diet and supplements; we promised we'd ensure he had the best life possible, and we work on that every day.
The most surprising thing about owning a Hungarian Vizsla is...
Everyone knows Vizslas are a very high energy, active breed, but they're also super smart, they need easily as much mental stimulation as physical. The nickname 'Velcro Vizsla' doesn't even begin to cover their loving nature, they would climb into your very soul if they could.
What I wish I’d known about Hungarian Vizslas is...
I wish I'd found out how wonderful they are many years before I did, I would have had a pack of them if I had, but anyone wishing to share their lives with this extraordinary breed needs plenty time and patience to bring out the best in them.
Did you know?
Known as dogs who originally hunted alongside falcons, it is said that they still have a natural affinity for birds of prey.
