Get introduced to Marmalade
Hungarian Vizsla, 1 Year old
My favourite thing about Marmalade is...
She is the most loving dog, she craves attention and loves nothing more than to be by your side, no matter where you are! Marmalade is incredibly intelligent, a quick learner and loves to be worked and trained, be that at home or on walks. Her recall is generally very good albeit it has taken a lot of training to get to that point.
The biggest challenge with Marmalade is...
Separation anxiety, going with the trait of loving to be by your side, she hates being separated from you, specifically in terms of being left alone. Vizslas are nicknamed velcro dogs for a good reason... We are making progress on this but it is very slow and we never expect to get to the point other breeds do but hope we can work up to not having a permanent shadow!
The most surprising thing about owning a Hungarian Vizsla is...
How intelligent she is, I was expecting a dog which required a lot of exercise and training, but her clever the breed is and how quickly she learns is amazing.
What I wish I’d known about Hungarian Vizslas is...
The only thing I would again raise is the separation. We did know this was a trait but perhaps naively hoped it could be worked on/trained out quicker than it is taking in real life.
Did you know?
Known as dogs who originally hunted alongside falcons, it is said that they still have a natural affinity for birds of prey.
