Greetings from Benji
Jack Russell Terrier, 6 years old
My favourite thing about Benji is...
He cannot speak English, but I have come to learn his own language of signals very well. For example if he's hungry he rattles his bowl. If he wants to play he brings you a toy. If I'm lay on the sofa with a blanket over me and he wants to lie underneath it on my legs he nudges the edge of the blanket upwards with his nose to tell me.
The biggest challenge with Benji is...
Reminding him that we already know the person who is entering our house, without him barking at them for a while, or that people are allowed to walk up the path near our house. We keep trying to tell him it's a public footpath not his.
The most surprising thing about owning a Jack Russell Terrier is...
They have a regular routine as in time of getting up and going to bed at night. Meals times are about the same times and they will tell you if you were to forget. They have a thing for fluffy toys, I'm putting this down to natural instinct with terriers being burrow hunting dogs.
What I wish I’d known about Jack Russell Terriers is...
How much energy they have. They have endless amounts of it.
