Say Hello to Rembrandt
Labrador Retriever, 3 years old
My favourite thing about Rembrandt is...
I'm disabled and he follows me everywhere (even the loo!) and will stand still to help me up when I have a fall. He wasn't trained, he just starting doing it one day when I fell. He's like my shadow and I love him so much.
The biggest challenge with Rembrandt is...
Trying to get him to come in when he's bouncing up and down by the back gate and entertaining people walking past. One little boy is convinced he's on a trampoline!
The most surprising thing about owning a Labrador Retriever is...
How such an intelligent dog can be quite so daft! He'll spend 20 minutes hunting for the tennis ball that was right by his paws but if we hide the ball he'll work out how to get it in a minute or two.
What I wish I’d known about Labrador Retrievers is...
I think they need to be challenged mentally with puzzles and games just as much as they need physical exercise. It took us a couple of months to work it out but he was much happier having to really work for his treats.
Did you know?
Labradors have turned their paw to a whole host of dog careers, including: drug and explosive detection, search and rescue, and even guide dogs!
