Hola from Luna
Labrador Retriever & Australian Shepherd Dog, 12 years old
My favourite thing about Luna is...
Luna loves any kind of food, except lettuce and celery! She loves fruit of all kinds, and also carrots, green beans, and yogurt. She is older so she doesn't need much exercise but I taught her to wave with both paws and she was 12 years old! She is very cuddly and is very calm wherever we take her. She has never had an accident in the house and likes to sleep in late! Luna is gentle with children.
The biggest challenge with Luna is...
She is terrified of thunderstorms. We had to put her on medicine. Since she was a rescue we don't know what things happened to her in her past. She doesn't like to be left alone, but we are a good home for that because there is usually at least one person in the house at one time.
The most surprising thing about owning a Labrador Retriever & Australian Shepherd Dog is...
She is so intelligent, not just in terms of training but emotionally. She knows how you are feeling and she won't let you be alone if you are feeling sad or anxious. She gets her feelings hurt easily, you can't speak harshly to her (tell her to drop something she has in her mouth like a chicken bone or dead fish) or else she will start shaking. This could be be because of her difficult past.
What I wish I’d known about Labrador Retrievers & Australian Shepherd Dogs is...
They will try to steal food if they can, labs are perpetually hungry dogs and you really have to watch their weight. They will try everything to get you to feed them extra, from sad eyes, to doing tricks just because you looked at the food bin, from staring at you and nudging you because you forgot their bedtime snack!
