Introducing Pippin
Patterdale Terrier, 2 years old
My favourite thing about Pippin is...
Her stubborn determination but loving cuddly playful side too. She’s small but mighty in both strength of character and stamina. She will climb Munros, run with our bikes, play with friends dogs and snuggle up on the evening.
The biggest challenge with Pippin is...
Her prey drive - rabbits or squirrels and she’s off! She was hard work as a puppy, little devil really but we persevered with 121 training classes and are so happy and proud of the wee best friend she’s become! Definitely not a lap dog - Don’t be fooled by their size - these are very clever energetic dogs, with the wrong owner they could cause chaos and not be a pleasure to own.
The most surprising thing about owning a Patterdale Terrier is...
Their stubbornness, loving, playfulness and obsessiveness with a ball!
What I wish I’d known about Patterdale Terriers is...
Be strong, stick to your guns, get 121 training, invest in time with them as a pup and it’ll pay off in dividends as they mature. People thought I was mad getting a patterdale as my first dog but I proved them wrong and she is just the best!
Did you know?
Patterdale terriers were bred for their endurance and strength rather than their appearance and so the way they look can vary from dog to dog.
