Meet Otis
Spanish Water Dog, 2 years old
My favourite thing about Otis is...
he loves being with you, he is a Velcro dog, he’s sociable but will look after you. He’s a good looking dog that people always ask about but get mixed up with Cockapoo and Labradoodles.
The biggest challenge with Otis is...
He will play ball 24 hours a day if you let him and gets cross when you take the ball off him. He has high energy so loves going for walks which we enjoy but if you want a dog that only wants a small walk once a day this is not the dog for you. Very strong willed and needs good training.
The most surprising thing about owning a Spanish Water Dog is...
How intelligent they are. How they pick up your routine.
What I wish I’d known about Spanish Water Dogs is...
That no two dogs are the same. We have 2 SWD and they are completely opposite, one is laid back, the other is reactive but both have the same intelligence and will protect and want to be with you constantly.
Did you know?
Although the Spanish Water Dog has existed as a type of working dog in rural Spain for some time, as breed they have only been internationally recognised very recently. Efforts to establish them as a pedigree breed began in the 1970s, and the Spanish Kennel Club accepted them in the mid-1980s.
