Meet Dudley
Staffordshire Bull Terrier, 8 years old
My favourite thing about Dudley is...
Absolutely everything, he has the best character, the biggest heart and an awesome smile.
The biggest challenge with Dudley is...
He is a lump! He always has to have his ten minutes with me when I get in from work, which means he sits on my lap and does not move while he gets his fuss, causing me a dead leg. He weighs 23kg.
The most surprising thing about owning a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is...
Never believe what you hear about a SBT, I was wary when we got Dudley, hearing bad press about the breed. However I put trust into the breed, we raised him never to bite, never to argue or be aggressive with food. And I would never have another breed. I have two and had the best experiences with them. They are so loving and loyal. Their heart is the biggest most surprising thing about them.
What I wish I’d known about Staffordshire Bull Terriers is...
How clingy they actually are, how they don’t leave your side, even when you go to the toilet. Even if I stand up from the sofa to get something out of reach, Dudley is there up and seeing what I am doing, as I write this now he is standing with two back legs on the floor and his two front legs on the settee with his face in my phone.
Did you know?
One of the most popular events in the main ring at Crufts over the past few years has been the East Anglia Staffordshire Bull Terrier Display Team, who show their dogs doing everything from competitive agility, to tricks, to working with children.
