Get to know Clyde

Whippet, 2 years old

🌳 Countryside dog
🍷 Lives with adults only
Clyde was adopted!

My favourite thing about Clyde is...

His beautiful eyes. When he looks at you, you melt. Clyde is happy to lazy around and loves cuddles but also loves zoomies when he chases his ball or his chew. When Clyde is off the lead in an enclosed area he runs and runs and runs in circles. Magic to watch. His speed is fantastic.

The biggest challenge with Clyde is...

Clyde is very excitable when out walking. This is taking some time to correct. He can ignore people but likes other dogs. Jumping at friends and neighbours is slowly coming under control. We were used to female whippets and the mail is very different.

The most surprising thing about owning a Whippet is...

Their innate desire to run at full tilt. How such a fast runner just loves to lay in the sunshine and pant. The thought of moving does not occur to them. Clyde just loves to sleep on the bed (none of our other dogs got on the bed) with the comfort of the downie but lays on concrete with no problems.

What I wish I’d known about Whippets is...

There is a difference between whippets bred for racing and those bred with showing in mind. There is also a difference between the female and the male and not just the sex. I have found the males more wilful and the females a bit more independent. The whippet character is gentle and loving.

Did you know?

Whippets are super quiet dogs and some owners say theirs doesn’t ever bark!
