Fostering people’s health & wellbeing through the power of pets

At Purina, we love making delicious nutritious food that pets adore and that owners love to feed.

That moment when you see your pet’s eyes light up, or their tappy feet start to dance on the spot because they know dinner’s coming, brings pure joy. For many owners, it’s priceless.

And while nutrition and those precious feeding moments are at the heart of what we do, it's certainly not all we do. We're committed to doing more of what matters beyond the bowl, for pets, for the people who love them and the planet we share. Our 6 Purina Commitments help us focus on taking action where it matters most and where we can have the best long-term impacts.

But it’s not just about what we can do to help pets, people and the planet. We know that spending time with a pet, benefits not only our physical, but also our mental wellbeing. Pets are good for us. Whether it’s your own four-legged family member at home, a friend’s dog that you regularly take for walks, a family member’s cats that you visit when their owners are on holiday – right through to fully trained, incredible therapy and assistance pets who bring back independence, boost morale and provide emotional and physical support to their owners.

Pets across society bring immeasurable positive benefits, that we want to recognise and celebrate. One way we can do this is by collaborating with some of our highly-valued, long-term charity partners who do brilliant work in this area. By supporting their work and/or specific programmes they operate that protect and promote the power of the pet-human bond to improve people’s health and well-being, we’re proud to be able to keep doing more of what matters.

Cats Protection

We believe that the bond between pets and people can be life-changing and that no one should have to lose that bond, especially in difficult times. That is why we’re supporting our long-term partner of over 40 years, Cats Protection, and specifically, their Lifeline service.

Cats Protection Lifeline is a free and confidential service that arranges temporary foster homes for cats whose families are fleeing domestic abuse, giving owners the opportunity to find safety, knowing that their beloved cat will be safe and taken care of until they can be together again.

Partnering with Cats Protection Lifeline  allows us to support and protect the bond between pets and their owners during some of the most difficult circumstances. Once safe and reunited , both owners and pets can start to rebuild their lives, together, with all the physical and mental wellbeing support that only their unique bond can bring.

We’re proud to be able to support this incredible service and to continue working with our valued partner, Cats Protection, and the vital work they do. Canine Partners

At Purina, we know how powerful the pet human bond can be – and for people with disabilities, the bond they have with their assistance dog can be truly life changing. We’re proud to be supporting the Changing Lives Together Fund for a second year, continuing to support Canine Partners, a charity that transforms the lives of people partnering them with a specially trained dog.

We’ve been supporting Canine Partners for over 20 years and believe that the incredible work they do is a very strong representation of our Commitment Foster people’s health through the power of the pet-human bond.

Over the years, we have supported Canine Partners in creating life changing partnerships for people with physical disabilities. It takes approximately 20 months to train a canine partner with a cost of £50,000 to fund a partnership, from selection as a puppy right through to the dog's retirement at about 12 years old!

This year, we’re continuing to support the incredible work they do.
