Presenting Cosmos
Dachshund (Smooth-Haired), 1 Year old
My favourite thing about Cosmos is...
Cosmos is a right character and is sometimes mischievous and always makes me laugh, he is very loving and friendly to both cats and other dogs and loves to play, he always has a wagging tail and he love his cuddles on the sofa in the evening and watches the tv with us. He helps me a lot with my mental health and he’s like my emotional support dog and I love him dearly, he’s my superstar.
The biggest challenge with Cosmos is...
He barks at anything and everything, people walking by on the village footpath, the wind in the leaves of the trees, a ant only has to pass wind and he barks.
The most surprising thing about owning a Dachshund (Smooth-Haired) is...
His coat is low maintenance and doesn’t require much brushing and you don’t seem to notice to much when he moults.
What I wish I’d known about Dachshunds (Smooth-Haired) is...
How much they can be stubborn when they want to be.
Did you know?
It is thought that a translation error is why this breed appears in the hound group and not the terrier group! Its German name means Badger Dog, but back in 1874 when the breed was entered in the English stud book, authors wrongly translated the German ‘hund’ as ‘hound’ rather than as ‘dog’. Many owners will agree that living with a Dachshund feels more like living with a terrier than a hound!
