French Bulldog, 7 Months old

My favourite thing about Blu is...

Blu is lazy in a morning and loves a long snuggle rather than a morning walk. He makes me hold his chews while he eats them and I love that he finds the perfect stick and carries it around on all his walks. Blu has had a blue “Ted” since he was a pup and every night he suckles and treads on it every night before he goes to sleep and falls asleep with it in his mouth!

The biggest challenge with Blu is...

Blu can be very cheeky when he wants to be, although he is well behaved he can often choose to not listen and run away with socks and random things he finds. Blu has found his voice and likes to join in barking when he hears other dogs outside.

The most surprising thing about owning a French Bulldog is...

After finding out that Frenchies are not very good swimmers and they don’t like water, Blu will beg to be put in the bath just to play with the running water. He also loves to play in streams and rivers. Frenchies are also supposed to be stubborn and hard to train, Blu had leant fetch and sit by the time he was 8 weeks old, he continues to learn new things every week.

What I wish I’d known about French Bulldogs is...

Frenchies are prone to skin problems, they can often be allergic to smells and foods coursing rashes and skin irritations. Frenchies are also prone to joint issues, Blu was diagnosed with grade 1 laxative patella which means his knee caps are loose. This is common in most small dogs. They also have breathing difficulties so they snore and they can also overheat due to their snort snout.
