Let's say Bonjour to Buffy
French Bulldog, 2 years old
My favourite thing about Buffy is...
How she paws at my leg to get my attention when I sit on the sofa because she wants me to put a blanket over my legs so she can jump up and snuggle between my legs under the blanket and snore her cute little face off.
The biggest challenge with Buffy is...
She doesn't like it when the attention isn't all on her. If me and my husband are talking, or god forbid sitting on the sofa together, she throws a tantrum. She barks at us and whines until we pay attention to her or move apart so she can sit between us.
The most surprising thing about owning a French Bulldog is...
The amount of energy she has for a flat faced dog! We read they were usually low on energy but not Buffy! Her favourite thing to do is run as fast as she can in circles on the field.
What I wish I’d known about French Bulldogs is...
How smelly their bums are! She's a little fart machine! Sometimes I wish I didn't have the ability to smell.
Did you know
While starting off life as a working rural companion, stories of the French Bulldog’s unconventional appearance spread to Paris where they were adopted by those who wanted to appear socially daring and they found fame in paintings by Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec. Postcards can still sometime be found of scantily clad women posing with their ‘Bouledogues Francais’.
